What can Botulinum Toxin do for you?
Whenever you laugh, frown, concentrate or squint, your facial muscles contract and your skin creases. As you get older your skin loses its elasticity and those creases deepen into lines that become permanently etched on your face. Frown lines between your eyes can become particularly noticeable at a relatively young age, making you look angry or worried even when you're not.
By temporarily immobilising the muscles you use to frown, Botulinum Toxin can smooth out those lines, restoring a more youthful, less stressed expression to your face. The lasting effect of treatment with Botulinum Toxin can differ between individuals after which further courses of treatment may be necessary.

Tiny amounts of Botulinum Toxin are injected directly into the facial muscles. No local anaesthetic is usually required, but if you are concerned we can numb the skin over the area before injecting.
You can expect the treatment to take around 10-20 minutes. Over the next few days, the muscles gradually relax.

Dysport® is a prescription medicine containing Clostridium Botulinum Type A toxin complex for injection. It is used for the treatment of frown lines and excessive sweating. It should be administered only by trained medical professionals. Cautions: people with defective neuro-muscular transmission disorders, infection at site of injection, pregnancy and lactation. Possible side effects include headaches, pain, burning or redness at injection site, local muscle weakness including drooping eye lids, lack of feeling or nausea. Or compensatory sweating in other skin areas. Talk to your specialist about the benefits/risks of this procedure. A charge applies. Dysport® treatment lasts about four months and after this time further courses of treatment may be necessary. Speak to your specialist about your own situation".

Hyperhidrosis
Many people suffer from excessive underarm sweating, which can be uncomfortable and embarrassing. Often they have tried a number of deodorants – with limited, or no success.
By placing a number of superficial injections of Botulinum toxin into the armpit, the amount of sweating can be markedly reduced [and in some cases stopped all together]. Botulinum toxin targets sweating at its source. Once injected, it enters the specific glands in the underarms responsible for excess sweating. There it blocks the release of a chemical that signals the perspiration. After the first treatment, the effects of Botulinum toxin last an average of four to six months; however, the duration of effects may vary from person to person. Some people report a reduction in sweating lasting for up to a year.
